New writing inspired by 1984

A collaboration between DACS and the Writers’ Guild at The Kowalsky Gallery, 2nd July, 6.45pm

For the second year, the Guild and the artists' copyright, licensing and collecting society DACS are collaborating for a special event at The Kowalsky Gallery in London.

Six writers - Abby Ajayi, Stella Duffy, Tom Green, Alexis Flynn, Gail Renard and Shelley Silas - will each give a reading of their work especially composed for the evening and inspired by work on display at the annual DACS exhibition.

This year DACS is celebrating 25 years with an exhibition entitled 1984.

Drawing upon cultural, political and Orwellian themes, exhibiting artists present their own visual interpretation of 1984, referencing subjects as diverse as Big Brother, Frankie Goes to Hollywood, Demi-Wave perms and the Miner's Strike.

Exhibiting artists include Tracey Emin, Peter Blake, Holly Johnson, David Nash, Tom Phillips, Nick Walker, Paul Slattery, Diana Armfield RA, Roger Bamber, Harvey Daniels, Jovan Djordjevic, David Hamilton, Marcelle Hanselaar, Nobu Hase, Martin Leman RBA, Philip Smith MBE ARCA, Nick Walker, Bill Tidy and many more.

This event is free, but places are limited so booking is essential. To book, email info@kowalskygallery.co.uk or call 020 7336 8811
