Google Book Settlement - decision time

As Pamela Samuelson points out in the Huffington Post,  "January 28 is the last day on which owners of copyrights in books published in the U.S., UK, Canada, and Australia can opt out or object to the proposed settlement of the Google Book Search (GBS) class action lawsuit initiated in 2005 by the Authors Guild."

All the information about the various options is on the Google Book Search Settlement website, and, as Samuelson says: "There is a huge difference between opting out and objecting, and copyright owners who dislike the settlement must choose between them."

If you do want to participate, the deadline for making claims has now been extended to 31 March 2011.

Here's a reminder of the information about the Settlement provided by the Guild last year.
