Join the Guild

The Writers’ Guild campaigns and lobbies on behalf of writers and negotiates minimum terms agreements. By joining the Guild you can help make our voice even stronger.

As a member you will receive a range of excellent benefits including, for Full Members, access to the Guild’s pension scheme and, for Full and Candidate Members, a free contract vetting service.

All members receive free publications, weekly e-bulletins, advice and support from professional staff and discounts at selected theatres, cinemas and events.

There are four categories of Guild membership:

Full Membership

Writers who have at least one professional contract for writing in terms at or above the Writers’ Guild minimum terms.

Candidate Membership

Writers who are not eligible for Full Membership but still want to join the Guild and receive a range of benefits

Student membership

A special reduced rate for students on an accredited writing course or on attachment with a theatre

Affiliate membership

For people who work professionally with writers (e.g. agents)
